As all of you know I breed my American Bulldogs, I have successfully had on litter of nine pups. That was in March of 2008.
Dalyce was in heat once since then about two months ago, ( If I wasn't so lazy I would dig up my calendar and tell you an exact date, but.....)
She is again acting as if she is in heat, her vulva is swollen, no bloody discharge, but she is flurting with the boys a lot. Could she be coming into season again because she didn't get pregnant from the last one.
I have read all about the cycles and know how it works, but I was wondering if she would come into season faster because I didn't breed her last time.
All the information you read states that it is a guidline and not an exact science.
I have been documenting her behavior this whole time and this is her typical come into heat behavior. Could it be true?
I just want to be ready if she is coming into heat again, I think it is still to soon to breed again. Better safe than sorry I always say. I think she still needs a good four or five months rest. What do you all think?

she wont be in season because you never bred her but she may of just come in early especially if any of your little girls are in all bitches in one house quite often come into season around the same time as each other, the other thing could be that she is having a tail end of a phantom pregnancy which makes them behave oddly, or she has just mest up on her cycle from having the pups and having other girlies in the house especially since they have just been neutered so their hormones will be off ballance and may have prompted her to start to ovulate.

I think Tira has experienced a phantom pregnancy. She had her heat cycle about 3 months ago. She did NOT tie and now she's digging into the bottom part of a small cart (where we keep some extra clothes). She throws the clothes out, crawls in and curls up for the night. Weird. The only other time she's "nested" is when she was having pups. I definitely don't like phantom pregnancies. :)

Dalyce did that too for like two weeks. Was digging under the playground like she did when she was nesting for the pups. It's all the learning experience. LOL.

I have had friends who's bitches showed signs of being in season and it ended up being what they call silent season this usually occurs if another bitch comes into season so the other girl wants to have litter and tries to force herself into a season. One of my girls does it and we have just had a litter in July and Skye has been like a surragate mother to them and she forced herself into season a few moths early she has 1 season a year which is usually september time and she came in just after Cassie was mated.

A "tie" does not have to occur in order for the female to become pregnant.

That's interesting Ann, I didn't know that. Dalyce is still acting weird she is showing no signs of heat but she is acting really different.

That's true, you can get a pregnancy from a quick slip mating.
