Just got the change in diagnosis yesterday after x-rays of my Shepherd's shoulder. Is not PANO....is OCD (a piece of cartlidge has broken off and is irritating shoulder.) He is on 10 days of Anti-inflams, then vet consult to set up surgery date. Has anyone gone through this with their dog? We cannot afford to go to the bigger centre for surgery $3,000+ (we really can't afford the $1500-2000 here either but we just adopted this beautiful dog from the SPCA in December, he's only a year old and needs a chance at life. )

Guess we should have opted for the Insurance coverage but hindsight is always 20/20. Our German Shepherd that we had to put to sleep almost a year ago was from the SPCA (14 1/2) and we still have her companion from the SPCA who is 12 1/2. There were no problems with them until they got quite old so who would have suspected?

I've read where dogs have had this surgery and have recovered and gone on to win agility competitions so I'm hopeful we can get through this and in 3 month's time we'll be able to breath easier.

I am so sorry to hear of the diagnosis and required surgery. That is a lot of money to have to put out.
Hope the anti-inflammatories work and he is in less pain. Hopefully he will be back to his normal self with the wonderful care he is receiving.
Good Luck and Best Wishes. Please keep us informed of his progress.
