Hope he has a good vet and gets the medications he needs to control the seizures.
I am so sorry you had this happen. But it is not always a hopeless situation.
Good Luck to you.

Tracy, If you know any person with epilepsy you will know that it is not something they usually grow out of but they get diagnosed by someone who specializes in epilepsy and they receive the right medications and control their seizures and make their life more normal. It is the same with a dog or any other pet.
It is sad and frightening for an owner to see their pet having a seizure but if you learn about the disease and how to help your pet it will be much less frightening.
We fear the unknown more than anything. When we gain knowledge about the thing we fear it makes us stronger and more able to face it.
This can be handled with help from your vet and you can enjoy a good life with your pet.

You are already taking a great first step by learning about it.

HI! just new here! saw your post about epilepsy. Have a 6 yr old lab who's been having a mild form of epilepsy. he started having attacks when he turned 1. if we're around when he gets his attacks, we just calm him down, making sure he doesn't bang his head or hurt himself. vet prescribed b1/12 vitamins. so far, our lab is ageing pretty well.

Hi exoticbee
I am also new here. I have a dalmation who is 7, well I have 3 dalmations, the one who took a fit is 7. Im really not sure what happened to him, he started shaking all over and wanted to go lie on the couch, this was over in 3-5 minutes, he looked scared, then he took about half an hour to an hour to come back to his cheeky self. It was really horrible to see my big strong dog like this. Does this sound familiar to you?
