We have recently adopted a 5month old Papillion. We are new at the small breed dog and definatly new with a Papillion. I am looking for other Papillion owners that would like to answer a few questions. The one thing I am noticing is that there isn't many purebreed Papillion owners. I fell in love with him when i looked into his eyes. It really had nothing to do with the breed. I have been learning as i go with him. Everyday I fall deeper in love,..by the way.
Thanks in advance

Something went wrong with this page..perhaps due to the size of your photo.
Your dog is beautiful. Easy to see how they capture your heart.
Thanks for the photo. We love seeing the pics.

hi
we are getting a papillon puppy too. there are some good sites where you can get good information and some breeders who answer your emails even if you don't get the papillon from them. One person who is a papillon lover who responds beautifully is www.aledapapillons.com/. Also check papillon club of america. This site www.braylorspapillons.com/ had some wonderful grooming info with pictures. Hope this helps.

My best freind has a Papillion...a hyper gal she is... even though I basically live at his house, she still barks when I come in. They are very protective dogs, but they don't pose much of a threat. They tend to think they are bigger than they actually are( like yorkshire terriers)

I agree that the first Pap breeder mentioned, the one that's done it for 30 years, is very good. She has Champion bred sires/dams as well as the parents themselves being CH. She obviously strives to meet and exceed the breed standards. I don't necessarily like that she sells the older dogs or the other one's that she's not breeding with after they are older. It just seems like getting rid of dead weight I guess. I may be wrong. THe only other thing I could find that was a tad concerning is that there was no mention of a health guarantee or any health certs having been done on any of the sires/dams. I have no doubt that she finds great homes for her pups - just look at the questionairre. :)

THe second listing on here...desert paps or whatever...not so good. No champions so to me the dogs/bitches haven't been proven to be up to par in regards to standards. No mention of a guarantee, questionairre for potential owners, or any health certs. Sounds like a person that has a few bitches and one male and is just breeding for the fun of it...not to better the breed or improve upon the standard and health.
Just my opinion though.

OP - you have a beautiful butterfly on your hands. :)

We have just acquired a Pap pup...He's 5 months old now, but was 3 months when we got him. He's beautiful, just like yours.. But we definitely are having an excrutiating time housebreaking him. He's so smart, catches on to everything but housebreaking.

They're lovely little things, aren't they?
