hi, has anyone got any tips on getting my pup used to being in the car. i have got a nice big estate which i have had a dog guard put in so i am sorted out there. i have been taking my pup down to the car and getting her used to just sitting in the car , i have placed her blanket in the back and she is fine with this but as soon as i start the car she goes berserk and she gets herself in such a bad state that i have to bring her back in the house. i really want to get her used to the car as when we go on holiday i want to take her with us as part of the family, so any advice will be very welcome.

I bought the harness that covers Casey's chest and the seatbelt goes through the back strap.
This keeps her secure and unable to jump around. She still whines a little the first couple of minutes but then she is able to lie down and she sleeps.
Your puppy will adjust.
Some people use a crate the right size for the car and not too big for the pup.
I find the harness is ideal because it can be used in any vehicle.
There is a campaign in my area to secure dogs in vehicles. My brother's shih-tzu survived a horrific head on collision with only a broken tail thanks to a softsided carrier that was secured with a seatbelt . The van rolled and they were lucky. Brother and sister-in-law were injured seriously and with long recovery okay but their biggest worry was their little dog ironically named "Lucky"....
He helped them recover more easily. He is their baby.
Good Luck...Patience, Persistence and consistency is always the best way with a puppy.
