A teacher at the school found a frost bit chihuahua. From what I am told, his paws were blue/black and he had lost a lot of fur all over his body due to frost bite. I dont know how bad it is but get this.
They want a small dog, a doxie.
So because this dog is not a doxie, they are just going to go toss it in the pound after saving it, sentencing it to death!
From what I am told it is a solid white, pure chihuahua. Can you belive this.
My Dad was actually pissed off after my Mom told us about that. LOL I have turned my Dad into a dog activist...belive me he used to not care about dogs really.
So I might be getting him to rehibilitate and find a home, I cannot keep him/her I mean...that would be just too many animals in this small house!
But seriously...they saved it and then gonna dump it at the pound. What kinda thinking is that!

Maybe they are unaware they dogs given to the pound only have a limited time before being euthanized?

Doubt it, everyone knows that! And in my small town, our shelter is a high death shelter, way too many dogs and not enough people. Last time I went in they had 3 male doxies, the lady begged me to take them, "3 for the price of 1" to try to get me to take them, of course I couldnt take them, 3 un neutered males...just to get them fixed would cost an arm and leg...and then to find them good homes...ugg!
Most ppl in my town keep their dogs intact, even mixed dogs...for whatever reason God only knows...

Wow, poor little guy ... :(
You already have a ton of stuff on your plate ... will you have the time for yet another dog?

I am thinking of giving it to the people I got Tyra from, a no kill city about 2-3 hrs from my town. I could do an ad in the newspaper, craigslist...anything but putting it in the pound...if anything if it is really REALLY small like a reall chihuahua, I might keep it hahaha....

I cant stand hearing or seeing an animal like this...if I dont see it or hear about it, thats another thing. But the lady intentionally told my Mom because she knows about my dogs and training ...ect...
If I dont have time I will find someone that will take him in.

We talked them out of dumping it in the pound and they are somewhat thinking of keeping him or giving it to us to fix up and what not. Kinda up in the air now as to what is going to happen to it.
Anything is better than the pound here.

I hate hearing about dogs in need, too. I always think, I could do so much for that dog. I could feed it, train it, etc. But I just don't have the time or energy. I'll just continue to treat my rescues (all of them, cats and rats too, all rescues) the best that I can, and educate ppl. I had a neighborhood walker say he wanted a dog from wherever I got Cerbie. He was dumbfounded when I told him to head to the shelter. I think I changed his mind about shelter dogs being "broken". So many ppl think that.

Both of my dogs are rescues and I wouldnt swap them for the world!! they are by far the best dog to have!! To think what some people do to them is awful, but If they hadnt have done what they had done the I wouldnt have got my girls. As Ive mentioned before, Poppy was thrown out of a moving car in an alleyway behind the vet surgery where I worked - she was in a terrible state. 11 years on and she is the best dog I have ever had. Until she ruptured her knee, I used to do companion dog shows with her - she used to do so well, we did local shows most weekends & had lots of success.... She was then chosen to represent our county of Staffordshire in the RSPCA dog of the year show, where dogs are judged on temperament and manners rather than looks. There were 52 dogs from the regions all over the UK - Poppy came 2nd!! I was sooooo proud. we got a mention on our local radio station and our picture in the local newspaper - I would have loved to have taken a copy of that newspaper article and nailed it to the forehead of the person who threw her out, just to show them what a fantastic dog they abused so terribly. hope the little fella gets settled somewhere safe xx

Ditto on the rescue pooches! They may come into my home with a little baggage sometimes but they actually seem to appreciate me more than the purebred puppies I once adopted long ago.

Good for you for giving this dog a new lease on life. I volunteer at my local animal shelter and I see this kind of crap all the time. It just pisses me off  It never ceases to surprise me how ignorant humans can be.

OMG You wouldnt belive this. They have changed their mind, so I am going to be getting it soon, dont know when.
The teacher walked up and said that her sister (the one with the dog) does not want it anymore.
Wow...seriously how can you say you are for sure keeping it, then less than a week later be like...nevermind! Dont want it.
Will find out more tomarrow.
I will definatly let yall know asap about this situation. I am glad I talked them outta dumping it in the pound, thought they had grown attached to it...and now I am getting it! At least getting it to find it a new home.

/sigh. Well, sounds like they shouldn't have a dog in the first place. :o I hope you find the pup a wonderful home!!
