East London - A toddler died in hospital after a pack of dogs mauled her in Nompumelelo informal settlement in Beacon Bay in East London, said Eastern Cape police on Tuesday.

A resident in the area saw about six or seven dogs attacking Kokie Bonani on Monday afternoon, said captain Stephen Marais.

"The 33-year-old man said the dogs ran away with the little girl when he tried chasing after them."

He said the child was aged between two and four years.

The girl was later taken to Frere Hospital in East London where she died.

Marais said owners of the dogs would be charged with culpable homicide.

"We are still trying to find out whose dogs they were and soon after the investigations are completed will we charge somebody

This is very sad. And again brings up the question of overbreeding by greedy people.

If people would refuse to pay such high prices for animals then maybe people wouldn't breed so many animals.

a few of us breed pitbulls, most ppl breed for size or color we breed for temperment. i only sell my dogs cheaper than most breeders. but the reason a lot of ppl charge so much is bc they put money into it for it to be registered, vet checked, wormed, and so on and if the ears have to be cropped for show. these r things ppl need to remember.
