My little Feisty Bird, a masked love bird, passed away yesterday. He had not been doing too well, but him passing away really hurt us. He was about 16+ years old, so he lived a good life. He loved to play in his hamster wheel, but in the past 3 or so years he stoped doing that. He would climb on top and swing down, riding it, or he would hop in it and run run run. He also loved to sleep in his coconut, and ring his big cow bell in his cage. He did a lot of funny and cute things.
He was a gorgeous bird, his bright colors always made him appear to be a cheerfull critter, but deep down he was a lil shit! He would bite ferousiously. His first name we gave him was Lightening, because he was so quick to bite, but someone suggested the name Feisty, and it stuck.
Our African Grey used to sing "Feisty Bird!" and mimic his chirp, a crisp happy chirp, but now he doesnt, so we think he is mourning his passing, and we know he was with him when he went.
He is burried beside my Taz in my garden. RIP Little Fiesty bird, your chirps and sillyness is already so very missed. :(

Aw - I'm so sorry to hear this. My cranky parakeet I would miss horribly too. I love all the chirping and his insistence on being uncovered as soon as he hears me up and moving around.

I got tears last summer when a fox got Henny, one of my chickens. I'm such a sap even about my hens.:o Animals are so easy to fall in love with._Marie

Oh so sorry to hear about your lovely bird. I too have mourned the passing of my chickens, guinea pigs, newborn kittens - it doesn't matter what they are they are a very important part of our existence, and it's so good to know that they were dearly loved and will be sadly missed.

I'm so sorry for your loss. And I feel so sorry for your other bird.A few years ago some wild dogs got my rooster and hen that I had rescued from some people that had mistreated them and was going to throw them out in the desert because they didn't want them anymore. I got them and nursed them back to good health. They both had bad sunburn because most of their feathers were gone. And the didn't have shade in their pen. The rooster( I named Big Red and the Hen I named Little Missy. They had been starved and they didn't get water. The people used to let their dogs chase them. They both were intolerant of people. They would attack. The rooster only had 2 littlle feathers on his tail. I started giving them a liquid supplement for birds when they were moulting and and bird vitamins in their water. They both turned out to be beautiful and their feathers were so shiny. They were Rhode Island Red chickens. They never got friendly so I fixed their pen so that I could water them and feed them from outside their pen. I had them for about 3 years. I would go out and talk to them every day. They started to get up on their house and watch for me to come out to talk to them. They would cock their heads and cluck when I talked to them. I got so attached to them. Then one morning a pack of wild dogs got to them. I was heartsick I cried for days. So it doesn't matter what kind of a pet you still miss them and mourn them. I still get tears when I think about my 2 feathered kids.

What a moving story. I think the chickens new of true love when they were looking for you to come to them. What a tragity what happened to them.
Thank you everyone for your words of kindness. Loosing an animal you have had for so many years, you never forget them....

I'm sooo sorry to hear of your loss and like everyone says...it doesn't matter what kind of pet they are still all pets to us and each have a little part of our heart and when they die that little part seems to go with them..
We greive and we never forget what they did for us .....
unconditional love of an animal .... something that humans have yet to learn .....
