My sister put down her 12 year old Cocker/Poodle a year ago and has just called to say she got a 6 month old, 4 pound Maltese. She hasn't been this happy since her Molly Kate died. I've never met a Maltese. Anyone have opinions on the breed?_Marie and Elsa June.

Elsa's looking forward to meeting him when they visit here this summer:D

my sons 4-h advisor has one. he is very cute, but has had some problems with his knee's. (he was a rescue dog) he had to have surgury on both legs, despite that he is a very happy boy. He is a lap dog, and doesnt learn commands very easily despite both husband and wife are trainers. That is probably due more to the fact he is an older dog and was never trained by the previous owner.

A couple friends of Roxy's are Maltese, and I just love them. They are big babies..lol. One of them likes to be held like an infant..and is extremely obedient. The other one walks perfect on a leash, and knows almost every command in the book.

I keep telling myself that I'll own one some day, and keep it in a show-coat.
