Hello,
I'm Cindy from Michigan. I have 4 Great Danes and they are like my children. I do have one problem child though but I am hoping to find help here or a home for her. I see so many that love their animals. I could never be without mine. Happy belated Thanksgiving.

Welcome CindyO,
Where in Michigan do you live? I lived in East Lansing while I did my grad work?

Welcome Tobysmom!! Where in PA are you? I lived there for 3 years in Bradford, PA? I too think the problem kids are the lovers, most of the time:) When you say problem child what do you mean?

Hi k9mania. Thanks for the welcome. I live near Kutztown University, halfway between Allentown and Reading. My problem child is a Bernese Mountain Dog named Toby and he is 2 yrs. old. The vet says she thinks he has ADHD (ha ha). He still has an enormous amount of energy. He eats his feces (as soon as he goes). He is not allowed on my bed (there would not be enough room for me), but he will sneak up on it whenever he gets a chance. He eats tissues from the box. He still chases just one of the two cats which causes that particular cat to urinate on the floor from stress. I have been working on the dog/cat issue and it is much better, but it's like I say - Toby is such a knuckle head. The trainer said he is very slow to mature. In some ways he learns quickly, but he is very stubborn and definitely an alpha male and I'm sure that isn't helping. My other boy, Quincy, is a collie and is very layed back, sweet, and well mannered. Quincy is not as playful and funny as Toby, but just as sweet in his own way. Quincy is about 6 or 7 yrs. old. I don't know his full background.

I loved my time in Bradford so laid back and the forest. Opie and I hiked and mountain biked year round. Unless there was wind in the winter, then it was too cold. My friend has always wanted a Bermese. I have a boy border collie that seems to be a late maturer too. My first boy and ugh. He believes in instant gratification and the consequences are definitely worth it. He is a lover but the problem child of the group. I have one that I have always said has ADHD, OCD, and then she was a rescue. When I first got her, she peeled the side of my mattress off, ate my comforter, toothpaste, and every cardboard box she could find. We have come a long way in 7.5 years but you never know when she will revert. But she too, is kind, gentle, and loves life when she is not afraid of it. What keeps your boy centered?
