We are located in the Stuart area of Florida, North of Palm Beach County.
We have a Catahoula hound that we would like to get involved in Flyball. She is smart and fast, approximately 3 years old...pound puppy. Are there any groups in my area? Please advise.
Thanks.

Hi,

There are 2 different flyball associations. NAFA www.flyball.org and U-FLI www.u-fli.com. On each site there is a flyball team locater. They typically have them by state. You can also email the contact on the site and they will help you. I belong to both. You just need to go to a few practices of different teams in your area (if there are more than one) to make sure the philosophy, training methods, and culture fit your goals for you and your dog. There is a wide range of teams from highly competitive to let's have fun. It is also good to try different sports like agility, lure coursing, dock dog, etc. to see what your dog really likes. If they like more than one, try them all. What I see many times is that people like a particular activity and the dog does it because it was asked to, not because his/her's heart is in it. We have a dog on our flyball team that gives up at tournaments 1/2 way through the day. Her enthusiasm for the sport is not as deep as it used to be. Let us know how it goes.:)
