Hi.
My name is Kelly and I live in Austin, Texas. I stumbled upon this site while looking for separation anxiety solutions for my deaf pit bull.
I'm a full time Animal Control Officer and full time student and part time training to be a police k-9 handler/trainer.
I own 2 dogs...a white Pit ( the deaf one) named Asa and a Lab-x named Georgia. both of which were adopted from our Animal Control kennel.

still looking for answers and help with Asa...i posted in 'badly behaving' and havent really gotten much help... :(

My Great Dane is deaf. I got him used to being on his own gradually, 5 minute intervals, getting longer and longer. He did some damage in the beginning. I found obedience training helped. I get him to sit and lay down, recall using sign language. I don't really know how I did it, but he'll quite happily spend the day sunbathing in a sunny spot in the garden, whether i'm in or not! He was 9 months when I got him (rescue dog), he's 7 now. He only makes a fuss if I'm late with dinner time. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
