Next weekend I am going with a friend and her 4 dogs on a four day camping trip. We are going to stay at Benbow Valley RV Resort. They are located near Garberville in Nothern CA and are a dog friendly campgrond. We plan on going hiking in the King Range National Conservation Area (Humboldt County). They have miles of trials where dogs can be off leash. We have hiked there before and have met very few people on the trails. You can hike from the rugged mountains down to beach. I would like to hear from other people that have a favorite place to hike, hopefully where dogs can be off leash.

I just returned form the four day camping and hiking trip to Northern Ca. We went on three long hikes with the four dogs. The dogs really enjoyed being off leash, they would race ahead and then come running back to make sure we were still coming. They would compete among themselves to see who could be the leader. Some of the trails are pretty rocky so it is a good idea to bring booties to put on the dogs paws if they don't have tough pads. Also you need to carry enough water for the dogs and yourselves. I am always looking for hints on hiking with your K9 friends.

socaljim- that trip sounds amazing. Those dogs must have thought they had died and gone to heaven!
