Hi! I too have rescue dogs. Two were from rescue centres, one was advertised in the local paper and one was found wandering down the main road near to my house and brought to me. I wouldn't have them any other way, despite some behaviour problems that arrived with them!!
If anyone is reading this and is thinking about rescuing a second-chance hound, then PLEASE,PLEASE,PLEASE consider an ex-racing Greyhound. Contrary to popular belief, they DO NOT need loads of exercise. They are, in fact, one of the LAZIEST dogs you can find! I take mine out for a 40 minute walk round the block, then they sleep the rest of the day!!
They do not shed any more than most short-haired breeds, they do not need loads of food, and although they retire from racing between the ages of 2 and 5, they can easily live into their teens!
Most importantly of all, they are the most gentle and loving dogs who will reward you every day for taking them home. They can get on with cats, although caution is needed to begin with while you de-sensitise them to their natural chase instinct, and for large dogs they can curl up very small on your sofa or in a soft dog bed (an old duvet is very much appreciated by these bony hounds)
Anyway, time to get off my soap-box. Sorry, I just LUURRRVE Greyhounds!!! Oh, but just one word of warning! Greyhounds are like crisps, YOU CAN'T JUST HAVE ONE!!!! Their gentle, warm personalities are addictive and you will end up with several!!! ;) :)

Oh they have a wonderful reputation. If there was a greyhound rescue anywhere near me I would have considered it seriously. Instead I rescued Casey. My daughter saw the ad in the paper and went and got her. I was at her house and it was love at first sight for Casey and me.
But I have a small house and the greyhound would take up the whole couch...LOL... Casey curls up at the end and leaves me enough room.

Rescue dogs are some of the most loving you can get..
Rescue centres do such a great job and hope that when I am old enough I can volunteer at trusts and such...

Thanks for setting up a rescue forum! Rescue dogs rule!!
(as do other dogs but I'm sorry I'm biased...:D )

My WGS x is a rescue and I love him to bits. We found him by chance just a few months after we had to put our older WGS x down from cancer. He was dropped off at the local vet clinic- more like abandoned- and it was like seeing a ghost. We just had to have him. We went into the pen and he came right over our son and gave him a gentle lick. Just like our old dog. By the end of the day, we had found homes for all of his siblings (5 in total) and not one of them had to be put down. Our clinic only has limited space and our dog was only 1 day away from never meeting us. We totally lucked out with him and we have never looked back.
