I am thinking of taking up snowshoeing with my dogs. Have any of you tried it? What about skiijorring? I know it is a good idea to use booties to keep the snowballs from forming.

we dogsled and skjior and its great fun once you teach the dogs what they have to do, Booties can be hard to use on dogs that have never used them.
It took a good week to get them to keep them on. if you have any questions feel free to email me

I saw a film on tv recently about skiing with 2 dogs pulling and how they do it in the summer with a scooter. This looks like such fun and great exercise for the canines and the owners.
Apparently there are even some smaller dogs capable of doing this.

I have a German Shepherd / Huskey mix. (NEKA)
We just walk at this time (Snow and Ice on the streets now) but I'm going to start using roller blades in the spring.

Wow, that sounds like a lot of fun...We dont do that around here...We have "the shovel game".. Neighbors wonder why my yellow growls at the shovel when I'm clearing the snow away.. He'll growl and bounce... He wants me to get a bunch of snow on it, yell WHOO HOOO and throw it in the air for him to catch... for an arthritic dog... he loves to play this game... for some reason if the snow is deep, its easier on his joints to play in... so I'll play the game til he tires... then I throw snowballs for the choc to chase after... thats about our excercise, other then taking the choc for a walk...:)

Neka loves the cold and the snow. She also has a Black Lab friend that she loves to play with. Yesterday, (18 degrees and sunny) they chased each other and wrestled in the snow for about 30 minutes stopping occationally to eat snow or put little yellow spots in it. The next time I go down there i'm going to video tape it and I'll post it for all to see.
