I have the same problem with my 18 month old Mini wire haired daxie. I went to see the vet as somone told me it was due to vitamin deficiency. Load of rubbish. Basically some dogs just do it. I can only avoid it as I have tried endless methods to make her stop. I scoop as soon as they poop and I keep her on an extension lead at walk times so that I can keep track on what she is doing. I've tried countless training methods, some vets can give you something which makes poop taste nasty, but it doesn't help if you come in contact with poops whilst out on a walk! My advice- clean it up straight away and avoid it whilst out on walks.

Out of 13, two of our dogs eat it (or try to), the other eleven don't. The same two are also attracted to horse droppings - presumably because there's more of it and its a different smell/taste (Urgghhh)

And all 13 get fed the same amount, the same stuff, at the same time. So it's nothing to do with diet deficiency.

So, it's a case of some dogs do and others don't, and all you can do is reduce or eliminate the opportunities.
