We know there is a major debate in the United States about banning pit bulls in particular cities. Insurance companies are denying policies to people with particular breeds. In Washington state, there s a debate about having doggie day care businesses in the city where they are needed. Off leash areas; are they growing or dwindling? It is important for people to be aware of existing legislation and regulations. It is even more important to know about proposed legislation/regulations that need to be challenged by those who know dogs.

I am in Peterborough Ontario Canada.
We have this law and expect now that in the next 20 years the pit bull will disappear from our area. It is already happening because some owners are not prepared to neuter or muzzle their pit bulls. The shelters have neutered any they had before adopting them out but a lot have been euthanized. When owners of these pits renewed their dogtag this year they had to bring the dog in to have its pic taken so bylaw officers can identify the registered pits in the area.
It is a sad situation but it was not the pitbull breed that caused this problem. It was the irresponsible pitbull owners and breeders that caused this problem.
We all know pitbulls that are sweet pets. We all also have met the ones that you would never approach in a million years.
If these dogs had been bred more carefully, and raised more carefully this breed would never have come to this end.
