Hi this is my first time using this forum but just looking for some advice.

We have a 8wks old JRT pup, she is lovely and cute but I just want to make sure we are dong things OK.
We have only had her 4 days and the first night and 2nd night she was a star, she went to bed at about 9pm after we had been playing with her then took her out at 10.30 pm for a wee and she went straight back into bed and that was it, didn't hear a peep out of her until morning. The strange thing is since then she has been restless at night (even though we have still been playing with her) and she has been crying in the nights. I have even got some ear plugs now as I don't want to give in and go down to her.

I just wonder why she may have started doing this now , are we doing something wrong, she seemed so settled those first two nights. Also as I said we try to ignore her at night, and so far we haven't gone to her, I have read a lot of info about this and they all say to ignore it (unless you want them in your room which we don't) I just want to know , will she one day get the message and stop the whining? How long might this take? I know she's only a baby but if we are doing the right thing by ignoring her and she will get the message not to whine I will definitely keep it up, just need to know were doing the right thing for her.

Also (sorry anther whining question) she also cries/whines in the day a bit mostly in the evening, we are at the moment trying to ignore this too and just carry on around her, we also try not to let her sleep on us, if she looks sleepy we simply put her in her basket, is this the right thing to do? I really want to try to do everything I can to make her under stand what we want so it doesn't confuse or drag things out for her. Not sure if were being mean.
Towards the evening when she whines we just don't pick her up or fuss her has I'm worried this will make her think she's getting her own way.

Hope someone gets the jest of what I'm trying to say and can help :)

We have another dog, Lab, and he's wonderful and I have completely forgotten everything we did when he was a puppy , so she's not alone, she has even started to get into his basket an sleep with him so thought that would make her feel more happy.

Thanks Moby x
