my male dog tries to "hump" my male cat

He keeps trying to have sex with him, my cat hates it, my dog is only 4 months old, and my cat is 9 years old, how can i stop this from happening?

Nuetering? Your dog may not be trying to have sex with your cat..."Humping" is a way to assert dominance. The dog may just be trying to let you cat know that he has a higher place in the pack than your kitty. My dog was neutered at 7 mos and he still trys to hump my puppy occasionally. However since I am the leader here I can tell him "No" and he will walk away. At 4 months I truly doubt that the dog is trying to have sex with anything but only trying to let the cat know where he stands in the pack especially since the cat was there first.

ok, thanks for that, he's stopped doing that now, my cat, i think, has stepped down, my cat now owns the living room only.

A couple of whaps from the cat typically will tell the pup that humping is off limits. :) Glad they have found a solution to live together.

thats funny my 4 month old pup was humping my sons teddy bear i guess its the only thing he can be dominant over lol the cats will kick his butt and the dogs wont put up with any of it they put him in his place real quick
