We have had an Old Time Bulldog since Monday but she is being a nightmare at night. We didn't have this problem with our other dogs and we are doing everything the same.
When she sleeps during the day she will go into her cage quite happily but at night she goes crazy. Bark, bark, bark.
Can anyone give me some advice on what to do with her?
Thanks

Where is her crate located? Is the door closed in the day? There is a difference between being in open crate and closed. Also if you are around during the day and then at night she can't see you it is different. During the day you could close the crate door when it goes in for short periods of time and reward her for being calm. One of my borders was like that I all I did was put a light sheet over the crate door.

Her crate is in the kitchen with our dogs - one of which in a bed and the other is caged. When she sleeps in it during the day I will shut the door. Did you put the sheet over whilst your dog was awake?

I definatly do not think it is fare or good if one sleeps with you. i suggest having them all sleep in the kitchen...or in a crate in your bedroom. I personaly would have them in my room, so they can see me and feel loved, and them slowley move them farther into the kitchen or ware ever. or, you might just have the bulldog in your room,in a crate, and them slowly move him out. my guess is he just feels like he is being left at night.
stay strong.

Just to inform everyone - last night she went straight to sleep - hurray!!! I think she has finally got it - I have to say she is a stubborn one but such a clown and has us laughing at least three times a day!

That's great...Stubborn puppies can be difficult to deal with but are totally funny at times. I wish you lots of luck with the training.

Her training is going really well - we have only had her a week and she had no basic training at all - reared in a kennel!
She will now sit and lie down and my other two dogs have really accepted her.

I have a 5.5month old doberman,I also have a yorkie cross 2yrs. and a chihuhua 1yr. my problem is my dobe thinks she is a small dog. When we go to dog parks she is scared of the other dogs. She usually runs behind me, uet my chih. is barking and out in front. It is quite the site a 5lb. little dog up in front and a 50lb. dog hiding behide. I have had dobes before but this one needs more confidence. Any suggestions?

Love your bulldog. Beautiful!!!! I had problems with one of mine too. She would carry on all night long. It took a while for her to calm down but consistancy was the way. Excersise time, quiet time , a trip outside to pee and then bedtime. She finally calmed down when she realized the routine would not change. It took about two to three weeks. Finally she would go into the crate right away and she would lay down. She was also the hardest to potty train. Probably a dominance thing.
Love that bulldog, glad to see a bulldog owner on here.
