Your little westie sure is non aggressive. What a sweetie.
Casey is a cocker and she is also very gentle and more on the submissive side. Although I have heard of these little furbabies having those problems and causing their owners all sorts of problems. We are lucky!

Out of my 4 dachshunds only the boy momentarily shows signs of aggression - when the girls go through the door before him! Crazy. My Dane is scared of the dachshunds but I put that down to him being a recue dog - he's scared of everything - especially shoes. The Boxer is an angel. She's 11 and was bought as a guard dog as she has a big bark! It must be a huge problem though, having an aggressive dog - my neighbours Jack Russel used to attack his girlfriend, they'd been together 30 years but the new dog caused terrible problems for them.

I am currently awaiting a visit from a lady who has to rehome her 10 yr old Jack Russell/beagle because they lost their house and now live in a small apt. I am curious about his temperament and want to see how he will behave around Casey. I can predict her behaviour will be very friendly and I have to be so careful which dog I take on. I am hoping he is ok because he is coming from a family that had him for so long and lots of other pets.
I am not partial to beagles but from her description of him he sounds like he might have some of the smarts I have always thought they lacked. We shall see. He is the right size, 25 lbs so they will be on equal footing that way.
I will let you know how the visit goes and if he gets to stay or if he decides he does not like spaniels! LOL

hi Carol,
you sound like me. I started with 1 dog and ended up with 6. I have trouble saying no when people show up on my doorstep with a sad story! One lady showed up with a dog - her partner was beating her and the dog. The poor thing had cigarette burns on his ears and head. A little love and attention, a lot of training and whopee - one fantastic dog! In the past 15 years I've taken in cats, kittens, dogs, birds, chickens, rabbits, guinea pigs - luckily enough I have a very understanding husband!

Well this will be the last rescue for me. I have a small house and NOW 2 dogs.
Yes, I took Jake. He is one energetic 10 yr old. Wow.
He and Casey get along quite well. She is a little worried about sharing me but it will be okay.
He is a little louder than Casey, because he barks a little and growls at the new noises he is hearing. But I expect as each day passes he will become calmer. Today is Day 3 and the environment is quieter already.
I have a soft spot for the senior dogs because owners who cannot rehome their older pets seem to only consider putting them down instead of taking them to a no-kill shelter. We have a wonderful shelter here that saves animals and finds them homes or foster homes. They had one little sheltie there for months and months before the right person came and adopted her. She needed to be the only pet in the home because she was so afraid and had been abandoned by her previous owners.
Jake has been well loved by one family for 10 years and I am pleased that he is adapting to my home, perhaps because of Casey being here.
Both Casey and Jake demand a lot of attention but I am more than happy to give them that. Oh if only the snow would all melt and we could spend more time outdoors!
Jake plays fetch and I can hardly wait to take him to the park and play!
It is a pleasure to own 2 dogs that are not aggressive to other dogs and as far as I can see would never be aggressive to people.

Love your dane. Looks like awsome fun for the dog and the kids. We have a dog that does the same thing. Our cocker likes to play baseball with the kids. Only one problem, he doesn't throw it back. haha

I now have 7 dogs (we decided to keep a pup from the last litter), 5 mini daxies, a boxer and a Dane, we are totally out-numbered - I do try my hand at training but must admit it is down to luck and not much else!! so I've bought myself a dog training book. WISH ME LUCK

Good Luck to you!!!
Wow 7!
I have 2 and I am constantly training for something.
I had to housetrain both of them. They are great now. I have been working on the bad habit of them wanting to answer the door b4 I do LOL. They love to see company and they are so excited, it is chaos at the door. So every time I open the door, it is an opportunity to train them to sit and wait until I open it, look out and then tell them it is okay to go out.
They are both crate trained and I have one sitting out all the time and they go in and out when they want to. I only use it if I am going out. They prefer their doggie beds most of the time.

My philosophy after the past few months of these 2 arrivals is:
Be consistent, firm and persistent.
Praise, Praise, Praise the accomplishments.
Ignore the failures.
Treats are good!
Doggie kisses are my reward.

A person after my own heart. I have 1 crate, used as a whelping crate for mini-dachshund puppies, It's great Dane size! The dogs are to be found several places around the house, but usually at my feet! I can't stand it when people lock up their pets, I'd hate to be locked in a tiny room for hours on end, that's why I can't do it to my pets, besides which I'm sure there must be a law against it- animal cruelty? I shall get off my soap box, take the dogs for their daily romp through the mountainous landscape outside my back door and come home for a cup of tea! Speak to you again soon.
