There is no superior breed just some breeds gain control of their witts a little faster. Many factors come into play when you judge one breed to another. Like is this what you want to look at every time you see your pet, Will they poop alot and so on. I really do believe that smart dogs have ,What I call a "intelligent head" I look for that look in my hound puppies eyes and I have had great success with their turnout do it like this. Its almost like you can see a straight forward look of consitration. So I have done this with all my breeds of hounds and In the end its just some dogs have what it takes to be almighty king listener. And some need tons of training just to encourage them to use their witts. This is only my opinion though THERE IS NO SUPERIOR BLOODLINE just half witts.

You can breed dogs to be more trainable...it's part of their temperament most of the time. Others are known for being hard headed.
Pooping alot depends on what they are eating and how many times a day they are fed...also size of dog and how often they get to go out.

That's a real good point buckshot. If I had bred my own dogs that would be a bit easier for me to control. I did not really have that kind of control of the dogs I got. However, have been very lucky with the two I got. Gunner is a great listener and has gotten better as he has gotten older. Not sure where Bella is on that spectrum just yet as she is still very young but her test will come next week when we start class. So far just in a few hours we taught her to sit and to stay (she gets them most of the time). So I think she might be a good listener too. Besides as a breeder I dont think I would really know what I was looking for. :) Thats why I leave that up to the professionals.

I just had to throw that pooping thing in I have been asked so many times when people call about these hounds If they poop alot weird I know. But some folks dont know it is what you feed them , And how much , And what are you going to be doing with your dog. I give a fatty food in the winter and a higher protein towards the summer. Works very well but My hounds will tolerate Zero corn. So it gets very costly. But yes by the time a pup leaves us we know pretty much the direction they are heading. And we do let the buyers know as the pups progress through their early days. I didnt get this when I started buying my hounds so I figure Id make a change. Kinda cool:cool:
