Hi, I have a one year old beagle and I am thinking about getting another. I have heard from a few people that having two beagles is actually better than having one, i'm guessing because they keep eachother occupied when I am gone. Does anyone have any firsthand experience with owning two beagles or any advice on this topic. Thanks.

We got our first beagle in 1993, got her a buddy basset hound about 1 year later. They really got along. They both passed about 4 years ago.(health issues) Since then we now have 4 beagles(they are pack animals) 11years,7years,3years,5months.(we recommend stagger their ages, it makes it easier on you when one passes)
Also the younger ones keep the older ones trim and fit from the playing.
A solitary dog gets bored, you still need to give them lots exercise.
Enjoy!!(we also have a doberman that thinks she is a beagle)
We just got this puppy other wise we always get rescues, the rescues seem to appreciate a second chance for love!! there is many beagles rescues around.

I got my male beagle as a puppy 7 years ago, and he barked (or should I say bayed) all the time. I almost got kicked out of an apartment because of his noise!! Then about two and a half years ago we got our little girl beagle from the Humane Society (she was about 6 months old). I kennel them when I am at work, and since I got her, he is much quieter. He still has his moment of panic when we first leave, but after the door is closed and locked and he realizes we are not coming back in, he quiets right down. I haven't had any complaints from the neighbors. We have the wire collapsible kennels, and we set the kennels side by side so the dogs are close to each other and can keep each company, and it has been wonderful!
