How do you get a puppy (9 wks) to stop mouthing his leash when you are out walking? Also, he is eating everything in sight (pine needles, leaves, crabapples, you name it) and I end up jerking him away from it all the time, which can't be good.

Mouthing - there are some repellent sprays in which you could soke the leash, or you could try a chain leash until this behaviour is eradicated.
Eating everything - in my opinion that's normal for such a young dog. Jerking him and commanding him to stop is very ok, but you should also provide some alternative... some approved toy...

Sometimes we spend more time telling them what not to do than rewarding them for what they are doing right. Telling him no without rewarding him for the times he is doing it right (walking without grabbing the leash) does not tell him what he is supposed to be doing. You might look into clicker training. It is very effective at shaping the behaviors that you want without spending an inordinate amount of time always focusing on the unwanted behaviors. They need to know what it is you want them to do.

Well I have a 5 YEAR old golden and I know how you feel, Worried right? My dog just...he just drives me CRAZY! What I do is lightly pull the leash have him sit and hold his snout and lightly say "Benny (my dog's name)drop it don't chew(mouth)"and it's just like that he listens! So try that

My 1 pup is a terrible chewer; I found the best way to prevent him from chewing is a really simple mixture; 1 part lemon juice, 1 part rubbing alcohol, and a few drops of tobasco sauce. I mix it in a spray bottle and every so often I spray the corners of my throw rugs, his leash, or anything else that he has taken a fancy to. I've also found that by using a gentle leader (a canine halter) on our walks keeps him from trying to grab the leash even though I originally got it for his pulling (bad back). :o

I just held the lead in a way that would turn the collar around so she couldn't chew on it and she eventually got the hint. Now that she actually has the jaw power to chew through things it's not a problem.
