Cesar Millan, the renowned dog behavioral specialist and star of National Geographic Channel's hit show "Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan," today unveiled a new line of branded merchandise for dogs, including organic dog food and other products and accessories at San Diego's Global Pet Expo, the pet industry's largest annual trade show.
Cesar Millan's "Dog Whisperer" branded merchandise line is comprised of primarily organic, environmentally-friendly and stringently-tested dog products for all breeds and sizes. Each specially created product has been "signed-off" by Cesar himself, and all include "Cesar’s Tips," which describe the proper use and benefits of each product.
Among the products in the "Dog Whisperer" line are organic wet and dry dog food, treats and chews, fortified water, liquid supplements, collars and leashes, toys, grooming products, beds, bowls, feeding supplies and an instructional series of DVDs. Eventually the product line is expected to include more than 100 products all developed to create happy, healthy and balanced dogs.
As part of today's product launch, the Cesar & Ilusion Millan Foundation, a non-profit organization designed to aid and support the rescue, rehabilitation and placement of abused and abandoned dogs, is making a donation of $2500 to The Rancho Coastal Humane Society in Encinitas, California. Additionally, a portion of the proceeds from sales of all "Dog Whisperer" merchandise will be contributed to the Cesar and Ilusion Millan Foundation for distribution to animal shelters across the country.
The "Dog Whisperer" line of products will be available exclusively at more than 900 PETCO stores nationwide in late spring 2008.
In making the announcement, Cesar said, "I am proud to launch my first dog product line to further support our philosophy of improving the health, happiness and balance of dogs everywhere. I am also grateful to the great people of PETCO for their participation and the tremendous support they have shown our products."
"PETCO is pleased to be the exclusive launch retailer for "Dog Whisperer" food, treats and products," said Jim Alvord, vice president and division merchandise manager for PETCO. "For us, this represents another step in our ongoing mission to provide the products, services and solutions that pet parents need for their dogs to be happy, healthy and members of the family."
Cesar Millan is represented in broadcasting, speaking, licensing and marketing on a worldwide basis by sports, entertainment and media company, IMG.
About Cesar Millan
Cesar Millan is a world-renowned dog behavior specialist, known for his uncanny ability to walk large packs of dogs at a time. And from poodles to pit bulls, the well-behaved canines under Cesar's care have all been rehabilitated; each of them rescued from a wide range of behavior issues - everything from insecurity to severe 'red zone' aggression!
Cesar's unique "Power of the Pack" methodology comes from his keen understanding of canine pack behavior. While most dog trainers relate to one animal at a time, Cesar often uses the pack itself—the natural social unit for canines—to rehabilitate a wayward dog.
Cesar first captured the national spotlight when his National Geographic Channel series "Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan" premiered in 2004. Now in its fourth season, the show was twice nominated for an Emmy® Award for "Outstanding Reality Program."
Cesar's first book, "Cesar's Way," released in April 2004, has sold more than one million copies in hardcover and spent 15 weeks at No.1 on The New York Times Bestseller List. The paperback edition of "Cesar's Way," released in September 2007, and his new book "Be the Pack Leader, " released in October 2007, are both current New York Times bestsellers.
His company Cesar Millan, Inc. was formed in order to reach out to the dogs Cesar is unable to help personally. The company is constantly developing new resources and tools and offers free information to the public through its high-traffic website and an opt-in newsletter with over 300,000 subscribers.
On Valentine's Day 2007, Cesar and his wife Ilusion announced the formation of the Cesar and Ilusion Millan Foundation. The non-profit organization provides financial support and rehabilitation expertise to shelters throughout the United States, better enabling them to maintain the highest standards of care and assistance to animals under their protection.

I am a UK Dog Behaviorist and Trainer. I do not suffer with professional jealousy but I cannot condone anything that this man does or appears to do. His work is cruel the equipment he uses is cruel and cannot be condoned and if you think about how dangerous it is to sit on a skate board or roll along on skates with a pack of dogs. Can you imagine youngsters copying this behavior. This man is dangerous with what he does and Very, cruel with the use of kicks, pressure points pinch and electric collars. I have had some very expressive dogs (and thats being polite) working well in a very short period of time without the use of cruel aids.

So Cesar Milan No, No, NO

That's whats wonderful about having more then one training option, you can choose a milan type of training or someone elses. I tend to agree w/milan. He doesn't "kick" the dogs during his show (I don't know what goes on behind the scenes) and you need to remember that he's there to "fix" things the owners have caused in a day's time. He can't take every dog home w/him and work with them, so he tries to train the owners how to "work" with the dog. The only other show I've seen with a different training twist is animal planet's, It's me or the dog. She also does a good job (except getting people to successfully take weight off they're dog!)

Rex I am not a big fan of Milan. Those things you talk about are not always seen on TV but you can tell he uses intimidation a lot. It is true it looks good in a short time. But I have seen the show when I thought oops wait until the people are on their own the dog will bite again. I think his heart is in the right place. There are just different ways to get to the same end with the process being more progressive according to training methods.

I agree about cesar I feel like if you have an aggressive dog and have tried everything then cesars techniques are much better than just giving up on your dog and either putting it to sleep or in a shelter! I also love It's me or the dog! Victoria is a very positive trainer and I wish I could find someone like her here, I have a cocker with some issues and have tried about 4 different trainers and not one has worked! I would deffinatly try cesar. Thats just me a frusterated cocker owner though. :)

Oh yeah this thread was about his products though not his techniques. I don't live near a Pet co so I will not be able to even check it out. But I probably couldn't afford any of it anyway. I bet they are good products though cuz I'm sure he wouldn't put his name on anything otherwise.
