I once had a little dog I had gotten free from a lady in front of the West Monroe "Wal-Mart." She claimed she had been selling these dogs for as much as $300. However, she was tired of running the sales ads and had decided to just give them away. When asked what the breed was she replied, "These dogs are Chi-poms." And rather than let me pick out the dog of my choice, she went to the cage, picked up a little male puppy and said "If you want him, take him." I took one look at this tiny ball of wiggling fur and couldn't help but say "I'll take him." I then asked her just what "Chi-pom" was. Her description was Chihuahua and pomeranian. I tried my best not to be skeptic but I informed her that he resembled neither of those breeds but was a funny lookin pup and that would probably give me plenty of comic relief. (He did too I might add.) Then she said he was American Eskimo Chihuahua and pom. (American Eskimo Chihuahua?????) "They look like mini huskies," she said. Oh, well now I see the resemblence... Anyway, to make a long story short, I named him "Bear" because thats what he closest reminded me of. Well, Bear lived with me for two years. Had all his shots. Never took any kind of sick spell. Then all of a sudden he quit eating, drinking... got real weak real fast. I took him to the vet and the diagnosis was "Automotive anti-freeze poisoning" and that he was not going to pull through. I started thinking... I don't keep anti-freeze anywhere on my property. So where did Bear come in contact with it? Fact is someone poisoned my Bear. When Bear passed I cried like a baby for several days. I still miss my Bear and every now and then when I go outside I can still see him, running up to me in his special greeting way. Getting excited, peeing on my feet. He did that everytime he saw me. He is buried in my front yard beside the tree that was his favorite outside spot. Its been almost 8 months since he died and I still go out to his grave and talk to him like he's still here. I guess he is in a way. Bear, I love you and miss you.
