I understand how you are feeling, I am having problems with a breeder right now who has promised to replace my shih tzu puppy that I had to put down at l0 months old and is not reneging on the promise. I have kept all copies of e mails and have just confronted her today with the prove that she has totally lied to me. I understand from another breeder who works withn the same circles as her that they are a close knit community and that word of mouth spreads quickly, I am going to make sure it does. If she does not honor her promise I am going to do the best I can to attack her 30 year reputation. If you have it in writing can you not call a lawyer? I wish you all of the luck I will be thinking of you. Susan
could the breeder here,be the same breeder you went to susan,
just a thought x

With any contract you can sue the breeder for breach of that contract. If stipulated in the contract that they would reimburse you for the cost of the puppy in the event it developed a specified ailment. The breeder can take repossession of the animal in some cases, again that has to be stipulated in the original contract, but that is rare. I would also send the vet information to the CKC or AKC so that this breeder is known to them as having this issue.
Does your insurance cover this operation?

Yes, I agree with Furbilator. If you have a contract, you can sue and win. Most breeders are more than willing to replace or help because of their reputation. Have you been showing? I would get a lawyer to draft a letter to her and then see if she caves. Welcome to the forum.:)
