The guidence counslour of my school talked to me the other day about what I would like to do with my life is song write in nashville. So she emailed me this songwriting camp that is in my area. Sad new is I cannot go because it is 1,000 dollars to get in and my parents refuse to put down that kind of money on a stupid camp. So my guidence counsoulr gave me the email adress of this hit Country music songwriter who wrote number one songs for some of the big artists and I am writting her a letter now to help me out next year when I move to Nashville!!

So wish me luck guys :D I shared some of my songs with her!! I might be the next songwriter for Taylor swift!

Wow, sounds really exciting - hope you can raise the cash for next year.
Don't know if this will help but when I was younger I was really into music and I was really lucky to get sponsorship to do a load of camps etc. Some of these were bursaries from different charities, local ones and national so my Mum and I found the library really helpful as they have books about what bursaries and support is available both for people local to your area and also in specific fields such as your song writing. It may also be worth getting in touch with the camp and seeing if they have any sort of scheme where they let people who couldn't normally come get a reduced fee or something (or is that wishful thinking in the US, I have no idea...)

Anyway good luck, fingers crossed for you as it sounds really fun and a great opportunity

Good luck Starry! Wishing you the best of luck no matter where life leads you. You can do anything you put your mind to. Too much ambition is NEVER a bad thing.

Good luck Starry!

I was wondering, I think you mentioned you were looking at getting a job. What about paying for camp yourself or suggesting to your parents that if you make half of the cost ($500) that they could pay the final half. I know your parents are tough, but on occassion when you show parents some effort they surprise you.

Personal story = my parents did NOT want me to have a show dog. However, I worked my little butt off and saved the money to buy, take care of, and show my own dog. Once they saw that, they had no aversion to me getting Bo!

well, my mom wouldnt let me go to camp even if I had that kind of money. My mom could pay for it i mean isnt like we need 2 watch our money but she just wouldnt let me go to another city for 3 days without her guidance. I already suggested getting money myself and she said she won't let me go. She dont want to be responsible if something happens to me.

So I just emailed the lady of the camp who is a real songwriter herself. Where there is a will there is a way ;)
