Poncho

Well my 14 year german shepard finally gave up his fight. He went about 5 months ago but i just now got my computer back. My husband got me a big dog a couple of months ago to try to lessen the devastation but its not the same. I love the new dog but hes no poncho. I still hear him in the bedroom at night or scratching on the door. I still cry over him and miss him so bad. Boo is okay but it's not the same. I miss him so much still. For a couple days after we would even make his food without thinking about it and then look at it and cry. My new one is a different breed but sometimes he reminds me of him so much it hurts. But Poncho aint hurting anymore and that is what i have to remember.

I LOVE AND MISS YOU PONCHO!!

Im very sorry to hear about Poncho. I know its tough to say goodbye. I went thru it a few years ago with Chip and more recently with three other dogs that belonged to friends of mine.

I wish you peace in your time of loss, and Id like to welcome you back to the K9M family.

It is hard not to compare the new dog to the old dog but give it time. After a while you will find you love and appreciate this new furbaby just as much but in a different way than you did your old pal Poncho.

My sympathies.

thank you

As I sat here and read your replies and cried looking at Poncho missing him Boo jumped on my lap (100lb lap dog he thinks) and licked my tears. He seems to be a combination of all the good dogs I have lost. But it aint the same. He never leaves my side when I am sad, but he is no Poncho. I do love him but I still miss Ponch and wish he was still here. What hurts so much is he whined all night when he died and there was nothing I could do for him. I couldnt even get pain pills down him. My husband buried him the next day and he had had a siezure and bit his tounge in two. He fought so hard to stay with us but he finally lost. Hopefully he is in heaven like a puppy now with no pain. I still miss him so much. No one will ever take his place. If you guys want to see more pictures of my baby go to myspace at ponchodavis@yahoo.com and he is in my pictures.

Neka and Patchs will never be Chip and frankly, I dont expect them to ever take his place. They are unique in there own ways, and I except them for who they are. No other dog can or will ever take his place. After almost 3 years i still think about Chip every day and I still miss him ALOT ... Part of letting go for me was to write a few poems and ultimately making a Memorial Garden in is memory.

Once I came to realize that he was always going to be in my heart, it became OK to let him go. By letting go, i was able to make room in my heart for Neka ... and more recently Patchs.

Chip's memory will live in me forever, as will Neka's and Patchs' when they are gone!

Quit beating yourself up. Our pets don't live forever. If they did I would have a house chock full to overflowing with critters! You did what you could and that pooch WILL be waiting for you when your time comes. I haven't counted lately how many of mine have gone on but you go on and make room for just one more in memory of Poncho if for nothing else.

I got Morgan and Mendi's ashes under the orange tree and visit them regularly. Maxwell (his ashes) is still sitting in my china cabinet. You never forget. But you hold those dear memories close and find another who needs the love you have to give.
