Mini dog parks in airports - how cool

Fly pet friendly -Dog parks and dog hotels at airports

Lambert-St. Louis International Airport is joining a nationwide trend to be more pet friendly. It recently opened up two mini dog parks so that traveling dogs and service dogs can get some time outside to relieve themselves, play and get some fresh water. The little areas have doggy “bags” for the owners to use to clean up after their dog, One area at Lambert is located off the Main Terminal, and is located outside exit MT-6. This area provides synthetic grass. The East Terminal location has natural grass and is outside baggage claim at exit ET-15. Each area is about 400 square feet.
Nationwide we are seeing a trend toward pet friendly airports. There are now 17 pet friendly airports in 13 states. According to a recent poll, 62% of American households own a pet. It makes good financial sense for businesses to start catering to the four-legged members of the family. Besides being a good business strategy the Department of Transportation in May, 2008 gave airports a year to have relief areas for service dogs. Many airports are now meeting that regulation and even going further to meet the needs of traveling pets. The parks range in size from small to an area that actually is big enough for the dogs to run and burn off some energy.
