Elsa did it

well she didn't qualify BUT she did do VERY WELL on the off leash part of the trial. She didn't bark, jump or run around in the ring and that is a BIG ACCOMPLISHMENT. What we need to work on is her sniffing the ground while in the ring. otherwise all went well today. and I am very happy.
rest in peace my little Nikko. until we meet again. momma misses you and her heart aches every time she thinks of you, wishing you were still here to play with Joey and Elsa.

Congratulations! =D

So what went wrong/why didnt she Q?

The best thing to do the no sniffing thing is to put cookies/treats/ small things in the floor and walk by them and when she goes to sniff, correct and say "no sniff". Having a doxie, so close to the ground, PLUS being a 'hound dog' we have done this with Shara a lot, it helps, but is not 100% proof.

That is what I have to start doing. we did great! we work and ran to burn her energy. she was watching me and as soon as we step inside of the ring her nose went down. right before i was ready to step off she looked at me and then as soon i stepped her nose went down.

This may be due to her scent trailing, so now my trainer who came and watched said that she needs to be corrected. and reward her for watching. so it will be a combo correct her for sniffing and reward for watching.

her next trial will be on 3/6 and 3/7.
rest in peace my little Nikko. until we meet again. momma misses you and her heart aches every time she thinks of you, wishing you were still here to play with Joey and Elsa.

one thing that i realized today at training today, that i didn't do yesterday was to slow down my normal pace to get her ready for her halt and sit. so that was my bad. we are going to work on that. and work on correcting her for sniffing the ground. also her recall. I just need to work on her coming to me and sitting and staying for now. she does her finishes just fine. she did great for the stand for examination. and the figure 8's were fine also. so we have 1 month to work on all this. just so happy that we overcame the obstacle.
rest in peace my little Nikko. until we meet again. momma misses you and her heart aches every time she thinks of you, wishing you were still here to play with Joey and Elsa.
